01Data controller

Who handles your data

Talkip, S.A. de C.V., a company incorporated in Mexico, is the controller of the personal data collected through the Talkip app and the talkip.app website. You can reach us at privacy@talkip.app.

This policy explains what data we collect, what we use it for, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. By creating an account you accept the processing of your data on these terms.

02What we collect

What you give us and what using the app generates

Your profile, whatever you publish on your booth, your call history, and the technical data the app needs to work.

Account data

  • Display name, username and profile photo.
  • Email address, obtained through the provider you sign in with (Google or Apple). We never create or store passwords.
  • Date of birth, which we use to calculate your age and confirm you are over 18.
  • Country and the languages you speak.
  • Topics of interest you choose when you sign up.

Booth data, if you open one

  • Booth name, description, topic and cover photo.
  • Intro audio and intro video, if you choose to upload them.
  • The price and duration you set for your calls.
  • Ratings and number of calls answered.

Data generated by using Talkip

  • A record of the calls you make and receive: with whom, when, how long they lasted and how much was charged.
  • Missed calls and call requests.
  • Ratings you give and receive.
  • Booths you favorite and people you block.
  • Reports you submit about other booths.

Technical data

  • Device identifiers, used to send you notifications and ring your phone for calls.
  • App language and settings.
  • Technical error and usage logs, used to diagnose failures.

What we don't collect: we don't ask for your real-time location, we don't access your contacts, we don't read your messages from other apps, and we don't store your card numbers.

03Calls

What happens to the audio of your conversations

Your calls with other people are not recorded. The only exception is brand campaign calls, and you're told before those begin.

The audio of a regular call between a user and a booth travels encrypted between the participants and is not recorded, not stored, and nobody at Talkip listens to it. What we do keep is the record that the call happened: date, duration, participants and amount charged, because that's the payment receipt for both sides.

The exception: brand campaigns

Talkip lets companies run campaigns in which they pay to talk with people. Only those calls may be recorded, and in that case:

  • You're informed before the call starts and you can choose not to take part.
  • The recording is stored privately, and only the relevant brand and the booth owner can access it.
  • You can request its deletion at any time by writing to us.

No call between users and booths outside of those campaigns is recorded under any circumstances.

04Payments

How money is handled

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Talkip uses Stripe as its payment processor. Your card details are captured and sent directly to Stripe, which safeguards them under its own security standards. Talkip never receives, sees or stores card numbers, security codes or expiration dates: we only keep an identifier that lets us ask Stripe to run the charges you authorize.

For every paid call we keep the amount, date, currency and the parties involved. It is the receipt for both sides and it's retained even if you delete your account.

05Identity verification

What happens to your ID document

Verification is handled by Stripe. Your ID goes straight to them: Talkip never receives or stores it. We only get the result.

Creators can verify their account to confirm their identity and that they are of legal age. That process is carried out by Stripe through its identity verification service.

  • Your government-issued ID and, where applicable, your selfie are sent directly to Stripe and held by them, subject to their own privacy policy.
  • Talkip does not receive, see or store the image of your ID at any point.
  • From that process we only keep the outcome (verified or not), the date and a verification identifier.
  • That outcome is used solely to enable creator features and to prevent impersonation and duplicate accounts.

If you'd rather not verify, you can still use Talkip; some creator features may be unavailable.

06What we use your data for

Purposes of processing

To make the app work, to charge and pay correctly, to keep the community safe, and to improve the service.

Necessary purposes

  • Create and maintain your account, and let you sign in.
  • Connect calls and ring your phone when someone calls you.
  • Process charges and payouts, and issue the corresponding receipts.
  • Show your booth to other people, if you choose to open one.
  • Send you notifications about calls, requests and account activity.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse and impersonation, and suspend accounts that break our Terms and Conditions.
  • Comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Additional purposes

  • Recommend booths based on the topics and languages you chose.
  • Understand how the app is used in order to improve it.

You can object to the additional purposes without affecting your use of the app, by writing to the address at the end of this policy.

07Who we share it with

Providers that keep the app running

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the providers needed to operate, and with authorities where the law requires it.

Talkip does not sell your personal data and does not share it with advertisers.

We share strictly the information necessary with the following providers:

Type of providerWhat for
Cloud infrastructure Account authentication, database, running our services, and storage of the content you publish.
Voice communications Real-time transport of call audio.
Payment processing Charges, payouts and identity verification. This service is provided by Stripe, which directly safeguards card details and ID documents.
Notifications Delivery of alerts and incoming calls to your phone's system.
Content moderation Automated image analysis to detect content that breaks our policies.

These providers may only use the information to deliver the service we've contracted, never for their own purposes. We may change providers within each category; if that means a significant change in how your data is processed, we'll update this policy.

We may also disclose information when a competent authority requires it under the law, or when it's necessary to protect people's safety.

What other people see about you

Talkip is an app for conversation between people, so part of your profile is public within the app. The following is visible to any user:

  • Your profile photo and, if you have a booth, your cover photo or video.
  • Your display name and your username.
  • Your age, your country and the languages you speak.
  • If you have a booth: its description, topic, price, rating, and the intro audio and video you publish.

When a call takes place, both sides see that same information about each other: the caller sees the booth's profile and the booth sees the caller's profile. It's mutual, and necessary so both people know who they're talking to.

Never shown to other users: your email address, your exact date of birth, your payment details, your call history or your ID document.

Keep in mind that anything you publish — photo, cover, description, audio and video — can be seen, screenshotted or recorded by other people. Publish only what you're willing to make public.

If Talkip changes hands or shuts down

If the company merges, is acquired or transfers its operations, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, which will be bound to process it under this policy. We'll notify you inside the app or by email before it happens, and you can delete your account if you don't agree.

If Talkip ceases to operate, we'll delete the personal data we're not required to keep. Accounting and tax records will be retained for the period required by law, in the custody of whoever is responsible under applicable commercial legislation.

08Moderation and security

How we look after the community

Photos and videos you upload go through automated content analysis before they're published. You can block and report anyone.

  • Images and video covers you upload are automatically analyzed to detect sexually explicit or violent content. Content that breaks our policies is rejected before it's published.
  • You can block anyone: they will no longer be able to call you and won't see your booth.
  • You can report a booth. Reports are reviewed and may result in account suspension.
  • We apply usage limits and server-side validations to prevent abuse and payment fraud.

We protect your information with encryption in transit and access controls that limit who can view each piece of data. No system is infallible, but we work to reduce risk and will notify you if a breach significantly affects your data.

09How long we keep it

Retention periods

For as long as your account is active. Payment records are kept longer because tax law requires it.

  • Your profile and booth data: for as long as your account is active.
  • Payment and charge records: five years counted from the filing of the corresponding tax return, under the Mexican Federal Tax Code. Retained even if you delete your account.
  • Call history: for as long as your account is active. You can hide it from your own view at any time from the app.
  • Brand campaign recordings: for the duration of the campaign and up to twelve months afterwards, or until you request deletion.
  • Accounts suspended for violations: we keep a minimal identifier and the reason for suspension, even after the account is deleted, to prevent that person from registering again and to protect the community. We do not keep their profile or their content.
  • Reports and security logs: for as long as needed to investigate and prevent abuse.

10Your rights

What you can require of us

You can ask us to show, correct, delete or stop using your data. Write to us and we'll respond.

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify anything inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase your data or request its cancellation, subject to applicable legal limits.
  • Object to us using your data for additional purposes.
  • Port your data, receiving it in a readable format.
  • Withdraw any consent you've given us.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@talkip.app from the email address linked to your account. We'll respond within twenty business days at most.

If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you may contact the data protection authority for your country of residence.

11Deleting your account

How you leave Talkip

You can delete your account from the app. Your profile and booth are removed; payment records are kept as required by law.

You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings, or by writing to us. When you do:

  • Your profile, your booth and the content you published are deleted.
  • You stop appearing to other users and nobody can call you.
  • Records of transactions already completed are retained, dissociated from your profile, for the tax period described in section 09.
  • If you have pending payouts, we'll contact you to settle them before completing the deletion.

12Minors

Talkip is for people over 18 only

You can't use Talkip if you're under 18. If we find an account belonging to a minor, we delete it.

Talkip is intended exclusively for people over 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will suspend it and delete their data. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a minor in your care created an account, write to privacy@talkip.app and we'll act immediately.

13International transfers

Where your data lives

Talkip operates in several countries and some providers store data outside Mexico, with the safeguards the law requires.

Talkip is available in multiple countries. Our infrastructure providers may store and process information on servers located outside your country of residence, primarily in the United States.

Where this happens, we make sure adequate safeguards are in place through contractual clauses and the mechanisms provided for by applicable regulation.

14Changes to this policy

When we update something, we'll tell you

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app, in our providers or in the law. The date of the last update always appears at the top of the document.

If a change significantly affects how we process your data, we'll notify you inside the app before it takes effect.
